Add Shortcut Icon for Online App

2 min read

For most users, the mobile apps provide the easy access to member information. However, the following features are accessible only through the online app:

  • Edit Involvement Areas
  • Take Attendance
  • Run Reports
  • All Admin Settings

For these features, admins and users may want to add a shortcut on their phone to quickly access the iServe online application. Since iServe was created as a responsive web application, it can be easily used on small devices or tablets as well as laptop or desktop computers.

Use the steps below to add an icon/shortcut to the online app to your device.

This is the icon added to your device. Note that it is slightly different than the mobile app icon so that you can have both and see the difference on your device.

IMPORTANT: In order to add a shortcut icon to your Apple device, you will need to use the Safari browser app on your Apple device. These steps will not work with Chrome, Firefox or other browser apps.

Step 1. Open Safari browser and go to your online application website address (i.e. “http://testing.iserve.church”). Note: The URL for your iServe Online App will be your church’s “connect code” followed by iserve.church. You can get your “connect code” from the iServe admin for your congregation.

Step 2. Click on the share/send icon at the bottom to bring up menu with options (See Figure 1).

Step 3. Click on “Add to Home Screen” option on menu (See Figure 2).

Step 4. Type in label/name for shortcut icon that will be shown on your home screen (i.e. “iServe”). Note: You will see the app icon that will be used for this shortcut (See Figure 3).

Your new icon should appear on your Home Screen and it can be moved around like any other app icon. When you click this icon, it will open a new page in your Safari browser and will go directly to the iServe Online App.

SUGGESTION: When you login, make sure you check the “Remember me” box so the app will not prompt you to enter your email and password each time. This will save a cookie in your browser (and you can also save your password).
